The event will be held on Saturday, October 27th at 6:30 pm, at the Medallion Opera House located at 20 Park Street, Gorham Town Hall. Admission to the film is a suggested $5.00 donation per person.

The evening’s festivities are sponsored by Coos County Family Health, The Family Resource Center and Tri-County Community Action Program. The net proceeds from the evening will benefit the Gorham Public Library Kids’ Art Program.

“Tri-County Community Action is all about families helping families and making a difference in our communities,” said Jeanne Robillard, Chief Executive Officer of Tri-County Community Action Program. “We are so pleased to partner with CCFH, The Family Resource Center, and the Town of Gorham to bring the legacy and lessons of Fred Rogers to the community.”

Make A Difference Day is an altruistic national day of helping others, a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. The feature film takes an intimate look at America’s favorite neighbor: Mister Fred Rogers.

“Fred Rogers was a passionate advocate for children and their emotional well-being,” remarked Ken Gordon, Chief Executive Officer at Coos County Family Health Services. “The Art Program sponsored by the Gorham Public Library supports the health and well-being of children in our community, and is a cause we’re proud to support.”

Won’t You Be My Neighbor? examines the life and legacy of Fred Rogers, the beloved host of the popular children’s TV show “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood”; focusing on his exceptionally kind ideas. Told through the eyes of those who worked and lived with him, this film explores a man who believed that each of us is special and deserving of unconditional love.

“It is truly a moving tribute of a man who taught positive life lessons to children in a changing world,” stated Patti Stolte, Executive Director of the Family Resource Center.  “We work with families to create strong futures in the North Country and Fred Roger’s vision of love and kindness is essential to doing just that.”

Movie patrons can help celebrate Make a Difference Day by bringing a non-perishable food item to be donated to the Harvest Christian Fellowship, Feeding Hope Food Pantry. According to Feeding America, Currently, 1 in 11 men, women and children in New Hampshire are food insecure, meaning they don’t know where their next meal will come from.

The positive effects of kindness are experienced by everyone who witnesses a kind act, making those people significantly more likely to “pay it forward.” This means one kind act can create a domino effect and improve the day of countless people. There are many ways to be kind and many opportunities to practice but, Make A Difference Day is a great day to begin.
